The Black Horse Feather (aka the Horse Feather or Feather) is a spell ingredient in KQ6. Once it is used it becomes simply a white feather, and is discarded.
Alexander later obtained another black quill as a souvenir of his adventure.[1]

Usually just described as a feather or a black feather, it is given the titles 'Black Horse Feather' and 'Horse Feather' in the Magic Paint Spell.
