The metal shaft was an item needed to create the Black Diamond Pike. It is a stout shaft made out of magical metal.

The Hillman Blacksmith would only make the shaft after Connor had proven himself the Champion of legend. After Connor brought back the Stone of Order, the blacksmith agreed to make the shaft. The metal shaft was forged of a magical alloy which could wistand even the fiercest of blows. It turned out to be robust sure.
The shaft was used with the black diamond in order to create the spear which could kill the Basilisk at its Lair.
