Imps are a race from the land of Zakizga.

Background[]

Their skin is as rough and brown as the bark from an oak, with yellow eyes, stocky in body, but twig thin legs and arms, and have a beak like nose.[1] Bottles and lamps can be be used to imprison imps. Brass lamps are used the most often.[2]

Twenty imps lived in Sorrowing Court. The false imp Kuzgu lead the imps there.

Culture[]

In the remote Zakizga, imps live in stinking holes in the ground. Humans are apparently rare in Zakizga.

Imps seem to eat potatoes, rutabagas, onions, and other roots. They also are known to eat dwarves. They cook them, otherwise the meat would be too tough. Other recipes include raw human smothered in Ilzak sauce and butter, and cooked dried dwarf on stone plate. However eating humans is rare, and it is not normally part of their diet.

Physiology ant traits[]

Imps skin is brown as the bark of an oak. They have yellow eye. They are not usually cave dwellers. They are stocky in body, especially around the middle, and their arms and legs are twig-thin.

Behind the scenes[]

It would seem that some imps are demons in origin. This suggests that there are two species of imp.

An imp is a mythological being similar to a fairy or goblin, frequently described in folklore and superstition. The word may perhaps derive from the term ympe, used to denote a young grafted tree. Originating from Germanic folklore, the imp was a small lesser goblin.
